not correct and gives a false idea regarding the protective power of the vaccine. In fact, none of the dead bacterial vaccines could be relied upon to give absolute protection against an overwhelming infection and the same is true of plague vaccine. However, recently some public health officers and medical men in the province working in the field have doubted as to whether it is of any value at all as practised now in the field in a single dose inoculation of 2 c.c. (Simeons and Chhatre, 1946). With a view to clarifying the position a field investigation was undertaken recently in this province, where plague prevailed in an epidemic form in

Waldemar Mordecai Haffkine, CIE (1860-1930): prophylactic vaccination against cholera and bubonic plague in British India.
Waldemar Mordecai Haffkine developed an anticholera vaccine at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, in 1892. From the results of field trials in India from 1893 to 1896, he has been credited as having carried out the first effective prophylactic vaccination for a bacterial disease in man. When the plague pandemic reached Bombay, Haffkine became bacteriologist to the Government of (British) India (1896...
متن کاملVirus shedding after H9N2 strain challenge of SPF Chickens immunized by an experimental Nano-Adjuvant and commercial oil emulsion avian influenza (H9N2) vaccines
Abstract Background and Aims: Vaccination of poultry has a major impact on the prevention and control of avian influenza viruses. Nanobiotechnology techniques provide a new approach for improvement of influenza vaccine efficacy. In this study, efficacy of an inactivated nano-adjuvant vaccine developed based on an endemic H9N2 virus was evaluated in SPF chickens. Materials and Methods: I...
متن کاملNeutralizing Antibody Response and Efficacy of Novel Recombinant Tetravalent Dengue DNA Vaccine Comprising Envelope Domain III in Mice
Background: Dengue is a global arboviral threat to humans; causing 390 million infections per year. The availability of safe and effective tetravalent dengue vaccine is a global requirement to prevent epidemics, morbidity, and mortality associated with it. Methods: Five experimental groups (6 mice per group) each of 5-week-old BALB/c mice were immunized with vaccine and placebo (empty plasmid) ...
